DescriptionThis document recognizes that decision-makers must anticipate the effects of sea-level rise and incorporate into management plans mitigation strategies aimed at enhancing public safety and reducing exposure of the coastal zone. In order to facilitate appropriate decision making, the study details the characteristics and impacts of sea-level rise in general, and reviews the available data concerning the history, forecasts, and consequences of sea-level rise in New Jersey. The historical and projected impacts of sea-level rise on the effects of storms are also examined. The report concludes with management strategy recommendations, in the form of suggestions for state policy, that comprise structural solutions and plans for encouraging land use change.
