DescriptionThe Mid-Atlantic Integrated Assessment (MAIA) is a research, monitoring, and assessment initiative created to develop high-quality scientific information on the condition of natural resources within the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Scientific activities conducted in the MAIA region focus on assessment issues that are of critical importance to resource managers and environmental decision-makers. The purpose of this guide is to provide researchers and scientists whose work encompasses the Mid-Atlantic Integrated Assessment (MAIA) region, a comprehensive guide to land cover and land use. In addition to being a guide to the federal, state, regional and university based organizations in the area, this document also provides information on standards to consider for data development, as well as quality assurance and quality control techniques that should be implemented.
